Comp, Post Comp and What's Next?

Well what a busy time I've had since Sunday. I apologise for not getting the time to write this until now.

Okay, well Sunday was a great day! The comp was a huge success for the ANB and as usual, a sell-out with standing room only. The venue, Club Marconi is also the same venue for the national championships and it is huge. The fact that the ANB Sydney show sold out this venue is purely amazing. As I have always said, in my opinion the ANB Sydney show is THE biggest show in the year. This year there was 160 competitors without double-ups in catergories. That's right... 160 RAW NUMBERS!! Just amazing for only the second show of the year.

Three Days Out!!

Hi folks, Well it’s three days out from the ANB Sydney Championships and if it’s anything like last year’s event; it’s going to be one hell of a show. Some people even refer to it as the ‘Mini Nationals’ because the quality of athletes that come out of the woodwork for this show is amazing.  I just arrived home from a 3 km walk i'm about to have my pre-sleep meal. Going to have an early night tonight because last night's sleep was a shocker! My son Riley was sick in his bed during the night, so I was up with him for a little bit, then when everybody was sleeping again, he was sick a second time. So during the night I changed his sheets twice, showered him twice and did a load of washing. I think I had about 3 hours sleep in total which was not very good, especially when you have a busy day planned at work the next day. Anyways.... let's hope tonight I can catch up . I had a day off the weights today, as I have already trained legs, back, chest and shoulders this wee ...

Progress and Competition Update

Well last week was the ANB South Coast Bodybuilding Championships and I competed in the under 90kg division in which I placed third. All day I could hear people’s whispers “Gee, the men’s under 90’s is going to be a tough one to judge” and from a competitor’s point of view, it was tough on stage.  Unfortunately, I was out-muscled by two very good bodybuilders, the winner Anthony Da Silva going on to win the Overall title later in the night. Well done to Anthony! He is a great guy and if I’m going to lose, I don’t mind losing to guys like him.

My prep for the South Coast show was outstanding with zero muscle loss and only minimal strength loss. I have been fortunate enough throughout the years to become very familiar with how my body reacts to different food types and quantities, so simply by reducing my carbs and increasing my meal frequency, I was able to avoid doing cardio all together. This saves me a lot of time throughout prep and also allows my body to remain hard all the way until show time.
