Born in a small country village in the south of England, I left school at 16 years of age and trained and worked as a chef for 2 years, later moving into a 7 year career in the I.T. industry, specialising as a hardware technician and in website design.
I left the UK 10 years ago at aged 20, intending to return home 12 months later. I turned 30 in January of this year and I still have not returned home to live!
After travelling the world I moved to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands where I lived for five years, after which I moved to Sydney, Australia where I now reside and have been living for nearly six years.
Nine years a Personal Trainer, five years a Sports Massage Therapist and recently completing a 3 year Bachelors of Science Degree as a Naturopath, I have been involved in competitive sport from the age of three when I took up horse riding and competed as an equestrian until the age of 13. Throughout school, despite being academically capable, I was much more interested in sports classes and woodwork! Excelling in basketball and athletics, I went on to competed for my state for a few years in 100&200m sprints, high jump & shot-put and continue to shoot hoops whenever I can.
I started weight training in the gym at the age of 14. I remember this clearly because I had to edit the birth date on my school library card with a white out pen, because I was ineligible to join the gym by school rules until I turned 15 and I wasn’t prepared to wait that long!
My childhood influences were my two older brothers, a 1970s set of free weights in my brothers’ bedroom and lots of old-school ‘Arnie’ bodybuilding mags.
As a local and traditional sport I took up big wave open ocean outrigger canoeing in the Cook islands and have been internationally competitive for 9 years now with my proudest achievements including placing first and winning the gold medal at the 2002 Fiji International Games for the single woman’s flat water 500m outrigger canoe sprints and placing in the worlds biggest open ocean surf outrigger race the Moloka’i with the Cronulla woman’s outrigger team. A 72km channel crossing from Moloka’i island to Oahu island in a time of 6 hours and 54 mins in 2005!
At the end of 2007 I competed to be a Gladiator in the 2008 TV series. I passed all the auditions and selection process and successfully made it into the final 20 female gladiator selection from which the producers picked the final 8 girls. Although I did not make this final selection I was contacted by Gladiators UK who showed interest in me for their 2008 series.
With a strong and committed background of sport, weight training and athletics, in 2007 I took 15 years of weight training onto the stage as a bodybuilding Figure competitor, placing 2nd in Figure Sydney and awarded Best Female Poser, 1st in Figure North Coast and 2nd in the Figure Australia Nationals also receiving the Encouragement Award. Taking home five trophies in my first year of competing was a huge honour for me, and an exciting start to my future in Figure bodybuilding.
Qualifying for the World Championships and Figure Universe 2008 has been a phenomenal achievement being that 2007 was my first year on stage. Having said that, I have complete belief and faith in myself, and with that, my training, dedication and drive towards this goal are reaching a career high for me in my years as a competitive athlete.
Loving my outdoor fun sports and activities including outrigger canoeing, surfing, rock-climbing, touch footy, snowboarding, flying, diving, motor biking, and as a true adrenalin junky, on my return from the Worlds this year I will be travelling to Queensland for 3 weeks to gain my grading to be a Stunt Actor which will open up a lot of exciting opportunities for my future career goals as a stunt woman.
For me to achieve my best each day I find power and explosive training results through intense self-belief and physical, mental and psychological focus. I know for certain that what ever I decide, believe and choose for my life will be so. If I believe I can, then I am correct, if I believe I can’t, then I am correct. Despite this solitary motivation, I have many beautiful people around me lifting my energy with love and encouragement.
I want to thank my sponsors Bioflex Nutrition, Inshape Gym East Gardens and Active Rubble. I also want to thank the many businesses affiliated with Active Rubble who have helped towards the fundraising of my trip to America, your kindness is felt deeply. Thank you also to the ANB federation especially Murray, Rob & Ryan who have so much continuous, amazing and supportive advice for me at my early and naïve stages of competing. To my closet friends here in Sydney who are very patient with my phases of unsociable behaviour and hibernation throughout my training preparation you are the incredible blessings that I cherish. Finally I want to thank my small family all the way over in the south west of England, on the beautiful beaches of Cornwall who support me in every breath I take and my beautiful mother who travels across the world to see me compete in every sport and every competition in which I contend, no matter which country!!
Not a day goes by when I don’t realise what an extremely fortunate and blessed girl I am!
Choose it! Create it! Cherish it!
