Suzy Blanch
I was born and raised in Wollongong ! I became passionate about athletics at the early age of 8 .I drove my father nuts about buying me my first pair of running spikes .he kept telling me he would buy me a pair when my feet stopped growing .I got them when I was 11. I continued athletics through high school .I loved competing especially in the 100metres & 200meters sprints they were my favorites purely because I always placed . It didn't take long for my parents to realize that I had energy to burn , Barbie just wasn't enough I used to cut off all of my dolls hair and draw all over their faces. My mother spent a fortune on trying to turn me into a girlie girl !

They both new they had to do something . I started playing competitive net ball and softball as well as continuing athletics .I just loved sports I continued all 3 until I finished high school.

When I became an apprentice hairdresser it became impossible to train the hours were long. So like most people I became sedentary and lost my fitness and gained weight. I joined the gym and started taking classes here and there. It wasn't until I meet my husband Tyson at the age of 23 .he introduced me to the world of weights . He explained the importance of weight training being a personal trainer and also part of the manpower troop "the thunder from down under".

I experienced my first ANB show in 2001. A friend was competing in the under 52kgs division. That's when I realized that I wanted to do figure . I became hooked and started purchasing bodybuilding magazines . I decided I needed to get my certificate 3 & 4. I loved learning about the Human body and discovered a new passion . I knew I wanted to compete 1 day but had a lot of obstacles standing in my way .1 of them was work! They just didn't understand .I wasn't going to let anything stand in my way ! So I left and opened my own hair salon !and continued towards my goals.

In 2003 id heard about this great trainer he was 6x Mr Australia "Brian Jones" I trained with Brian for 12 months before stepping on stage . My first comp was in my home town . It was the most memorable time in my life well second the first was marrying Tyson ! But the day was unforgettable

I'll never forget Brian and the knowledge he passed on . The silly old fool retired from personal training. I was lucky Brian and lee Carr worked closely for more than 10 years .lee took over from Brian and I continued my training with Lee. Lee has been involved in bodybuilding, martial arts & boxing .he has trained many champions.one of them"Shannon Taylor the bulli blaster ". Lee is my mentor and is like a second dad he inspires me continually and always motivates me .

I meet arina manta at my first show but didn't start training with her until June 2005 .I attended a seminar she held and decided to start seeing her regularly . She is an incredible lady and knows her stuff . One of the things arina taught me was the importance of stage presentation . I started making weekly trips to Sydney 1 -1/2 hours drive up ,1 hour session with arina , and then 1-1/2 hours drive back , I didn't mind really. After placing 4th at nationals 2004 I realized what could be mine .so i put in the hard work , dedication .

I believe I didn't get here on my own yes I'm a driven person its been part of my make up since a small child .I love bodybuilding and I appreciate everyone that has helped me along the way .you need a strong team and I have that .I would love to thank my husband Tyson,my family,my friends silvia , hayley, mani & Connie from life force and of course all of my my trainers thank you I love and respect all of.

"new shoes $100; hair, tanning, beauty $400; new posing suit $500; personal trainers $3000; 'standing on stage 1/2 naked winning the national overall title"

"PRICELESS".
