ANB Drug Testing Belief:

The ANB pays an accredited laboratory a scheduled fee for testing, the laboratory adopts the guidelines and procedures set out by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), http://www.wada-ama.org/en/ a registered practicing doctor does the collection of samples and uses an accredited method of collection and transportation. The ANB adopts the WADA beliefs and tries to maintain a one in every three random testing depending on the number of competitors in each of the competitions tested.

National Event Testing Program:
Bodybuilders may be subject to random testing if they are competiting at national and state events.

Sanctions:
Under the ANB Doping Policy, any Bodybuilder that commits a doping offence is subject to the hearing process and sanctions of a seven year ban for the first offence and a life ban for a second breach. During the sanction period Bodybuilders will:

* be ineligible to compete in any ANB competition.

Inadvertent Doping: Many medications contain banned and restricted substances as outlined in the WADA list of doping classes and methods. Athletes must take great care in choosing medications, particularly when they compete in events where drug testing may occur.

Colds, Flu or Hay Fever: Banned stimulants including ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, phenylpropanolamine and norpseudoephedrine are found in many cold, flu or hay fever preparations. To ensure that the medication chosen is permitted, an athlete can take the following steps:

* Check if the medication is listed under "permitted medications" with Pacific Meditech.
* If the medication is not listed or you are in any way uncertain, check with a Sports Doctor.

Clearance time for banned stimulants:
If an athlete is taking medication containing banned stimulants leading into a competition, we advise athletes to allow 5 - 7 days for medications of this type to leave their system (note: stimulants are not screened for in out of competition testing).

Asthma Medications:
Many asthma medications contain banned substances. However, some asthma medications are permitted if administered in the aerosol form if the appropriate notification is provided. These include Becotide, Pulmicort, Becloforte, Ventolin, Bricanyl, respolin, and Serevent. Herbal Products: Some herbal products contain banned substances but are not always listed as an ingredient on the packaging.
