ANB Starts Gym and Personal Trainer Registries
After representations from many different sectors of the sporting community, we have decided to launch two new registries. The Gym Registry is a straightforward listing of Gyms Australia wide, in a first in best dressed submission format. Listed will be the Gym Name, Location (Which will be just the Town or Suburb and State, as in Kirwan, Qld), Phone number and E-mail address. Entry is free and limited to one entry per gymnasium. The registry has its own menu item in the ANB Website and will be permanently accessible that way, or you can visit here:

The Personal Trainers Registry is along the same lines and can also be found on the permanent menu system of this website or by visiting here:

The ANB takes no responsibility whatsoever for the accuracy of the information provided in these registries, however will endeavour to maintain up to date and accurate information.
Entry into the Registries is in no way to be deemed as an endorsement, we are NOT recommending any entry in either registry. The purpose of the registries is as a public service and point of quick reference for the general public and our ANB members to locate in the first instance, either gym’s or personal trainers in their area. The ANB takes no responsibility for any association any person may make as a result of seeing an entry in either of our two registries.
Any Gyms that register can also opt to have our ANB official posters sent to that gym by requesting them during the registration process.

NEW ANB Forms Now Online
The newly designed ANB forms are now online ready for instant download, these forms reflect the changing nature of our sport and the categories have been reorganized to reflect what you will find at the various competitions through Australia.
The Registration Form is for joining the ANB Federation, and the
Entry Form is for contests. All members are asked to fill in every section of either form and to print clearly and in a reasonable size with either black or blue ink. Please despatch any forms with the correct remittance to the address printed on the forms.
NEW ZEALAND UPDATE JANUARY 2010
It has been a while since I updated the NZ page here, but that's not to say nothing has been happening with ANB NZ - far from it!
2010 is an exciting year for ANB NZ. In May I am bringing over a team of kiwis to compete at the ANB Asia Pacific Champs on the Gold Coast.
As of today, we have 24 competitors confirmed as coming over to be part of the team, and another 32 very keen to be part of it and yet to confirm.
Also we have a good team of supporters/trainers and families coming over to support their athletes in what is, for many of them, their first international competition.
This is a big step up in numbers from what we had last year and I'm really excited to be involved with this very dedicated and enthusiastic team of athletes who are all looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of them in 18 weeks time!
Most of the team that came over in 2009 are returning to compete again - which says a lot for the first experience they had - in fact some of them had already booked their flights months ago!
I'm very excited about the quality of this team also - there are a number of NZ bodybuilding champions who have made the decision to come over and compete in the ANB and welcome the drug-testing, as this is something that has been lacking in New Zealand for the past couple of years.
Last year our team was 'all female' but this year we have got the guys coming over to give the aussie guys a run for their money.
We've got athletes from all round NZ, from the top of the north island to almost the bottom of the south island, (sounds like an advert!) and will be competing in almost every class that is available.

ANB 2009 ASN Newcastle Classic shatters previous record
Sean and Yvette Perret led an amazing support crew who rewrote the record books at the 2009 ANB Newcastle Classic. With 97 mostly local competitors of simply amazing quality there was standing room only for both sessions, i.e. prejudging and the finals presentation. A feature of the competition were the fantastic prizes on offer as well as $5,000.00 worth of ASN sponsorship. The highly acclaimed team of ANB Judges did an outstanding job sorting out the results with many divisions decided by a single point. Another highlight were some of the very interesting posing routines in the Model category, they were well thought out and the use of props were all contributors towards entertainment as well as sporting prowess, a balance that the ANB has been striving to achieve for quite some time.
With an army of sponsors, both ANB and ASN have declared this the most successful regional show Australia wide, ever. It will take a super promotion effort by anyone else to top what we saw at Newcastle in a regional city but the bar has been set, so come on Australia, who can outdo Newcastle???

The ANB has over the last 25 years built up many relationships that have stood the test of time. One of the things about being friends is being there for your mates, all the time not just on contest day, not just a dozen times a year but all the time. Starting today, the ANB will be showcasing our friends, who have small to medium businesses, to give them a kick along and a little extra exposure. These are not paid sponsorships, these are just mentions of our best friends who are working hard and going along quietly doing the right thing and have not asked for any extra exposure. Actually if you ask you won’t get any.

Ryan captured the highest amateur award and was crowned World Champion in Canada and immediately on his return he was back at work in his local business and also giving up his time freely as an unpaid judge at local and regional ANB bodybuilding competitions. Not only doesn’t he get paid, but it costs him money to get to the venues and also when he spends a day or two travelling to the various competitions, he is not at his business working, as perhaps he should be.
