UPDATE MARCH 2010
We are 12 weeks out from the ANB Asia Pacific Champs and our New Zealand team numbers for this event has just reached a whopping 34.
The opportunity for New Zealand athletes to come compete against some of the best bodies in Australia, in a drug tested federation, has been a huge motivating factor for many of them.
I know that whether they are training together with others in their gyms for this event, or training on their own, they are all committed to doing their very best in May.
I'd like to introduce you to a couple of members of the NZ team and over the next couple of months I'll add a few more athletes with their profiles...
Niki Taylor
I am Niki, wife, mother, pharmacist and Bodybuilder! This year is the 20th anniversary of my first bodybuilding competition.
I have always played sport, from tennis to netball, rowing to marathon running and many others, in my last year of school I was introduced to the gym through rowing. I took up aerobics instructing and then was encouraged by the gym owner to compete in bodybuilding, and so I did.
Although having a break while I had my two children I was never far from the gym. I love the discipline of bodybuilding and every year brings a new challenge. I have competed for a number of different federations and won a number of titles in Physique, Figure, Bodyfitness and Mixed Pairs. This year I am happy to be going back to the Gold Coast to compete at the ANB Asia Pacific Comp.
Last year I competed in the sport model class, which was a very different experience but I will be back in figure class in 2010, where I feel I am better suited. It is geat to be able to compete in a well run, drug tested competition, which focuses on the athletes. A big thumbs up to ANB. So here's to the next 20 years, I don't think I will still be on stage then, but I am sure I will never be to far away from the GYM!

Obi Obadike to MC ANB Asia Pacific International
The ANB announced yesterday that Obi Obadike will be the special MC for the Asia-Pacific International event on the Gold Coast this year. In a special Facebook interview Obi declared he was over the moon with being selected and couldn't wait to get back to Australia and catch up with all his ANB friends.
ANB Starts Gym and Personal Trainer Registries
After representations from many different sectors of the sporting community, we have decided to launch two new registries. The Gym Registry is a straightforward listing of Gyms Australia wide, in a first in best dressed submission format. Listed will be the Gym Name, Location (Which will be just the Town or Suburb and State, as in Kirwan, Qld), Phone number and E-mail address. Entry is free and limited to one entry per gymnasium. The registry has its own menu item in the ANB Website and will be permanently accessible that way, or you can visit here:

The Personal Trainers Registry is along the same lines and can also be found on the permanent menu system of this website or by visiting here:

The ANB takes no responsibility whatsoever for the accuracy of the information provided in these registries, however will endeavour to maintain up to date and accurate information.
Entry into the Registries is in no way to be deemed as an endorsement, we are NOT recommending any entry in either registry. The purpose of the registries is as a public service and point of quick reference for the general public and our ANB members to locate in the first instance, either gym’s or personal trainers in their area. The ANB takes no responsibility for any association any person may make as a result of seeing an entry in either of our two registries.
Any Gyms that register can also opt to have our ANB official posters sent to that gym by requesting them during the registration process.

NEW ANB Forms Now Online
The newly designed ANB forms are now online ready for instant download, these forms reflect the changing nature of our sport and the categories have been reorganized to reflect what you will find at the various competitions through Australia.
The Registration Form is for joining the ANB Federation, and the
Entry Form is for contests. All members are asked to fill in every section of either form and to print clearly and in a reasonable size with either black or blue ink. Please despatch any forms with the correct remittance to the address printed on the forms.

ANB 2009 ASN Newcastle Classic shatters previous record
Sean and Yvette Perret led an amazing support crew who rewrote the record books at the 2009 ANB Newcastle Classic. With 97 mostly local competitors of simply amazing quality there was standing room only for both sessions, i.e. prejudging and the finals presentation. A feature of the competition were the fantastic prizes on offer as well as $5,000.00 worth of ASN sponsorship. The highly acclaimed team of ANB Judges did an outstanding job sorting out the results with many divisions decided by a single point. Another highlight were some of the very interesting posing routines in the Model category, they were well thought out and the use of props were all contributors towards entertainment as well as sporting prowess, a balance that the ANB has been striving to achieve for quite some time.
With an army of sponsors, both ANB and ASN have declared this the most successful regional show Australia wide, ever. It will take a super promotion effort by anyone else to top what we saw at Newcastle in a regional city but the bar has been set, so come on Australia, who can outdo Newcastle???
