ANB World Discovery Tour 2010

ANB Champion Murray Graham

ANB Champion Ryan Laos

ANB Champion Tiger G

ANB Champion Sasho Ognenovski

ANB Champion Lindy Olsen
The initial ANB World Discovery Tour was held in 2008 with the ANB Australian team of athletes having the opportunity to compete at both the WNSO World Titles in Toronto Canada and the MUSCLEMANIA Universe weekend in Florida USA. The team went into our first team international competition as “one” which on a personal note for myself was easier than the previous shows I had done overseas when I had travelled alone. History shows that the 2008 tour was an overwhelming success. All athletes placed within the top 6 of their respective divisions and we came home with 2 x World Champions and new Natural PROFESSIONAL Bodybuilders in Michelle Goodall and Ryan Laos. The world now understands that’s us proud aussies are a force to be reckoned with and we all look forward to this year’s 2010 tour. Since 2008 the ANB family has grown stronger and we must thank the ANB National Executive Committee along with our International affiliates for yet again providing this year’s team the opportunity to compete on the world stage.

Now in 2010 we will again travel as one ANB Australian Team to compete at both the WNSO World Titles in Las Vegas USA and the MUSCLEMENIA World Titles also held in Las Vegas USA. One thing I can assure you of is that once again this November ANB Team Australia will again do some major damage on the world stage. Over the last few months I have been contacted by many athletes asking of the qualification criteria which is as follows;

• Any ANB Natural PROFESSIONAL Athlete
• Top 6 placing at previous ANB World Discovery Tour eg: 2008
• Any previous Overall Australian champion in any division
• Any previous Australian champion in any division
• Top 6 placing at the Australian Titles in the year of the ANB tour
• Any previous Overall Asia Pacific champion
• Any previous Asia Pacific champion in any division
• Top 6 placing at the Asia Pacific International in the year of the ANB tour

The tour will again be unique with athletes coming together with one common goal. Athletes who have “been on the tour before” will attest to the comarardie and commitment that each has to the other. One special moment was in 2008 when Ryan Laos, Michelle Goodall and myself stood side by side at the all in athlete pose down with Michelle’s daughter Savanna screaming out, go mummy . The times shared by all are memories for life.

This year out Australian Team captains are as follows;

Male Captain = Ryan Laos
Female Captain = Tiger G

The AUSTRALIAN ANB World Discovery Tour 2010 is as follows; (click on our Champions page, more profiles are being added every day.)

• Ryan Laos , Tiger G, Lindy Olsen, Murray Graham, Markeeta Maletz, Zane Fahey, Juliet Cotterill, Sasho Ognenovski, Shannon Condolan, Grant Rayner, Kirra Longmiur, Dave Bergwerf, Skye Cushway, Sheree Harris, Simone Lewis, Michelle Fuller

Note: The above athlete list includes athletes selected from the Asia Pacific International

Whether you choose to compete in one or both shows, or even join the already growing list of the ANB family that will be on tour in support this year will be most enjoyable.

It is with great Australian pride, passion and the love that we all share for our chosen sport that we will head into battle with the World’s best.

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi

Regards,
Murray Graham (ANB National General Secretary)

ASADA & ANB Sign Historic NEW Anti-Doping Policy

The ANB has led the fight in anti-doping for many years and last year when we re-affiliated with ASADA the move was welcomed by many people. During the last twelve months we have worked behind the scenes with the ASADA legal team to rewrite the previous ANB Anti-Doping policy so that it encompasses the International community.

The ANB is the first Federation in history to become an ‘Open’ Federation as we published several years ago, we withdrew our affiliation from several International bodies and went it alone and as a result our members have had unprecedented freedom to compete in any federation that they choose. This of course led to questions of differences between different world bodies on their Anti-Doping policies and ours. Those differences have now been agreed to by all parties and the new ANB Anti-Doping policy went into effect at midnight today.

The new ANB Anti-Doping policy is available for download from this website and this is the only official place that you can be certain of obtaining the latest and most current Anti-Doping policy, this policy supersedes and replaces all other previous Anti-Doping policies and from this date forward all ANB sanctioned competitions will be governed by the Anti-Doping policy provided on this website.

The full version of the new ANB Anti-Doping Policy which came into effect on 25/5/2010, and supercedes all previous policies is available for download at: ANB Anti-Doping Policy.

If for some reason you cannot download the document, you can request a printed hard copy through the mail from the ANB General Secretary via e-mail to info@anb.com.au

The ANB was founded on the principles of fair play and this new Anti-Doping policy is just one step further undertaken to ensure that all competitors compete equally without fear or favour and in a natural condition without the use of banned substances.

Our Anti-Doping partners ASADA have a website at: http://www.asada.gov.au/index.html which has an impressive world class education section, as well as many other features and I encourage all members and intending members to visit the ASADA website and learn all about this facet of your industry. There is a great deal of highly useful information and many people willing and very capable of assisting you with any aspect of Anti-Doping. ASADA is an instrument of the Australian Federal Government and as such wishes to help all Australian sports people, they are our friends and I urge you to think of them in that light.

Thank you for the ANB Shellharbour Comp

Hi there,

I am not sure who to address this email too however I really wanted to extend my thanks to the team at ANB for the Shellharbour competition on the weekend!!

It was my first experience with the ANB federation and with the sport of body building, and it was the most amazing day!! I couldn't have asked for a better experienced. I was quite aprehensive initially at the idea of competiting as I did not know many people who had ever gone down that path, however after meeting Maria from ANB in Melbourne earlier on in the year I felt that I could acheive the nessacary physique and that the ANB seemed like a federation I would like to be affiliated with.

I chose the Shellharbour competition as the date gave me enough time to work towards my goal and I also assumed it would be a small, regional show. How I was wrong!! The show was HUGE and it completely blew me away at the amount of competitors AND audience!

Moreover, I felt extremely welcomed by all the back stage Totalee staff and the judges and officials. Each ANB representitive came up to me at one point in the day and shook my hand and congratulated me on my win. Even before I had won I had made contact with a couple of them and they had all been extremely positive and given words of encouragemented.

I am sure it is not an easy task to coordinate events such as these and having run my own fitness business I know that a lot of what gets done behind the scenes does not always get recognised. However I have nothing but praise for the ANB and think Sunday's show was extremely professional and I would like to be involved with more ANB events.

So thank you to the entire team, I will continue to compete within the ANB federation and I will pass on my positive experience to those whom I speak to :-)

Kind Regards,

Olivia Bartlett-Marques

ANB Sydney creates Australasian Record

Thank you Sydney, for making the ANB the most successful bodybuilding federation in Australia. Yesterday the Sydney championships had a stunning 156 competitors easily smashing the previous record and setting the bar at an extremely dizzy height for future promoters.

The championships provided many highlights and a video of the event will be produced and released in the near future, results and photographs will be posted on this website soon.

Unfortunately over 500 people were turned away from the Castle Hill venue and scenes never before witnessed of queues extending three floors and outside the club were part of this extraordinary sporting event.

The superb Sydney team led by super promoters Rob Powell and Kevin Reilly and supported by a fantastic team of regulars that have been together for many years were able to work like a well oiled team to fill the venue to overflowing for both sessions. People amazingly were turned away from the pre-judging which was also presold out days before the event.

The promoters now have an interesting problem in how to handle such large crowds in future years, there is no reason to think that the competition won’t continue to grow in popularity as more people are introduced to natural bodybuilding on a regular basis. Yesterday was a good news story to counter the constant headlines about obesity and overweight Australians, not downplaying those worthy causes it simply must be said that there is a new ground swell of very proud Australian men and women who are healthy, trim, fit and terrific and more than ever keen to show off their fabulous bodies in fair competition with the ANB.

ANB Product Of The Week - MSA Spandex Gloves

The ANB product of the week is something we all go through regularly, or at least we should, of course I’m referring to training gloves. Not only do they protect your hands from blisters but they give you a firm dry grip on your dumbbells and barbells and anything that helps prevent accidents and injuries is a good thing. The ANB through one of its sponsors MSA Training Accessories, has been able to source at a very reasonable price the white leather spandex gloves. They are recommended for medium to heavy weight lifting and absolutely the first thing that any bodybuilder or weight trainer throws into their training bag. Click here to read more about the ‘Special’ ANB price and then go on through and purchase your gloves if you like.

One of the great things that we have been able to encourage MSA to do for our members is to wave the delivery charge, that’s right FREE Delivery via Australia Post anywhere in our fantastic country and you can pay using a Cash on Delivery (COD) method so no need to run your credit cards up on a small priced item.

After representations from many different sectors of the sporting community, we have decided to launch two new registries. The Gym Registry is a straightforward listing of Gyms Australia wide, in a first in best dressed submission format. Listed will be the Gym Name, Location (Which will be just the Town or Suburb and State, as in Kirwan, Qld), Phone number and E-mail address. Entry is free and limited to one entry per gymnasium. The registry has its own menu item in the ANB Website and will be permanently accessible that way, or you can visit here: http://www.anb.com.au/GymRegistry.aspx

The Personal Trainers Registry is along the same lines and can also be found on the permanent menu system of this website or by visiting here: http://www.anb.com.au/PersonalTrainerRegistry.aspx entry is free and the format will be a listing of Name, Location, Phone and E-mail. The ANB takes no responsibility whatsoever for the accuracy of the information provided in these registries, however will endeavour to maintain up to date and accurate information.

Entry into the Registries is in no way to be deemed as an endorsement, we are NOT recommending any entry in either registry. The purpose of the registries is as a public service and point of quick reference for the general public and our ANB members to locate in the first instance, either gym’s or personal trainers in their area. The ANB takes no responsibility for any association any person may make as a result of seeing an entry in either of our two registries.
