Queensland
Queensland Report by Phil Lehner
There were 105 competitors and a packed house left the fans screaming at last weekends Queensland stare tiles held at the Tivoli in Brisbane.
Scott Reynolds took out the under 90kg division and then won the overall men’s title against a very strong opposition including big bad Russell Brereton. Stephanie Williams stamped here authority in the women’s figure division winning the overall. And Melissa Goodall won the women’s physique overall champion.
Everyone at the show was also treated by the company of Gordon Tallis and other state of origin stars. Gordon had a friend compete and said “I’ve never been to a bodybuilding comp before” but was very impressed by the hard work and dedication each and every competitor puts in.
Robert Powell the president of the ANB has over the last 3 years been overwhelmed by the growth of bodybuilding in Queensland, and would like to announce that there will be a second show added in QLD on the 2008 calendar. The Brisbane titles will be held in late April or early May so stay tuned to up coming information right
here on the ANB website.
The 2007 ANB Queensland Natural Bodybuilding Championships was a stunning success and continued on the all round growth of the sport throughout Australia over the past 24 months. Over 100 competitors competed at a very high level and the winners of most of the categories will form the Qld team for the Nationals.
The competition promoters, Ada Street Discount Supplements, provided gifts for every competitor, this would have cost in excess of a staggering $10,000.00 and the winner’s packs were so crammed with goodies, that the gifts alone are worth competing for.
The people in the audience were also interesting with a veritable who’s who of sports stars. Zane Aitken a boxing champion with a huge personal following was there, so was the Raging Bull, Gordon Tallis as well several other State of Origin stars. The day was an absolute success from every aspect. Photographs and results will be published on this site very soon.
