Hello Members, Supporters and Friends

With just under 11 Weeks to go until the Melbourne Natural Physiques there are many competitors that have already registered for this competition that are getting excited and are super organised! Has a promoter it’s great to see the enthusiasm of not just the novice competitor but those that have competed before who are also getting excited that they will once again be gracing the stages. Competitors can look forward to seeing the months of hard training and preparation pay off once they get up on stage with their ultimate physiques!

ANB show is a one show format starting at 11am May 9th 2010. The one show format means it is a lot easier preparation on the competitors with round 1 – compulsory posing first and straight after round 2 symmetry and then competitors leave the stage for round 3 – with their own 60 second posing routine! This makes it more entertaining for the audience also seeing their friends and family who are competing on stage. Tickets are on sale now. I know that I have had enquiries for booking the tables and I am happy to now take reservations. The table of ten mean that your family and friends can sit together at their reserved table on the day. For those that haven’t been at any of the ANB Victoria shows. We have general tickets available at the door but you can also organise to have pre paid tickets prior to the day. First in best seats or table! We generally sell out of the 44 tables I can fit in the venue but there is plenty of room for general admission at the door. For all enquiries or to view a floor plan feel free to enquire.

I have had some common questions asked by some competitors recently. Read below.

Q. Size of stage?
A. 12m x5m

Q. What is the length of music allowed for posing routine?
A. 60 seconds for bodybuilders and figure ladies. Models you are allowed up to 2 minutes. Please note that ANB Victoria is not strict if times go slightly over.

Q. What format do I need to provide my music?
A. Music for your posing routine music will need to be either sent to me prior to weigh in on MP3 Format via email or by disc by post. All music will be checked by music editor. No obscene language in music will be accepted. Please consider carefully that ANB is a family friendly event! For all music editing at a very reasonable price I have Dale the venues IT man that has complete experience and is happy to organise your music if required. Call Dale 0438 509 172 to arrange this.

Q. Does the posing routine count towards your scores.
A. Yes for ANB Victoria – it will if round 1 and 2 is point to point difference between first and second place and not a clear winner is able to be recognised. All divisions will have one competitor recognised for best posing routine. All competitors are required to complete all 3 rounds.

Q. Registration requirements and benefits if registering early?
A. Competitors who register early do benefit has they will get the lowest competitor number for that division which means that they can place themselves on the stage where they prefer. (most prefer centre of stage for clear viewing of all seven judges) Close of registration will be on the Sat May 8th. See poster attached for all details. Competitors who are in weight divisions and send in paperwork early will still be required to attend weigh in on May 8th.

Q. Do I have to attend weigh in?
A. Only if you are in a weight division or have not sent in all paperwork or sent in a copy of your music for your posing routine.

Q. Does my back stage helper need to pay to attend the competition?
A. No, ANB Victoria does not charge your back stage helper and you will receive one pass on the morning of the show when you check in. Please note this may not be the case for most other competitions!

Q. I need a posing instructor – who do you recommend?
A. I have a few coaches available throughout Victoria please feel free to contact me for someone close to you otherwise I recommend Vicki Arief – who is amazing for routines and compulsory posing. (Vicki is an amazing instructor, is a ANB Victoria Judge and is just a really lovely lady who has well over 30 years of experience in this industry, has competed herself so has the personal experience also and gives you value for your time spent with her. Contact Vicki 0408172360

Q. Make up and Deportment?
A. I get many ask about waxing and know that some beauticians do not do full body waxing or understand the importance to make up and tanning preparation prior to the competition. For some personalised preparation I highly recommend Karen Flaherty (Olympia Champion and Overall ANB Victoria 2006/09 ) Karen presentation for herself and her clients is immaculate. Update on the Get The Edge Pre – Competition Workshop held last weekend

Wow! What a fantastic turnout and day had by all with the our first workshop held this year at the Musashi Science Centre in Notting Hill Victoria. With two thirds of those who attended are planning on competing this year! The vibe was great and exciting for those that had just come along because they were either 1. Interested in the future. 2. Were trainers wanting to get a few extra tips by qualified experts. 3. Just wanted to be motivated on how to reach their ultimate physiques! We were also lucky enough to see the Melbourne Storm boys train in the gym next door. Musashi Science Centre have an amazing set up and with all the professional people there I can see why elite teams have chosen this venue to train at!

A big thank you to all those who participated throughout the day and to Andrew Garlick from www.bodyologystudio.com.au and Musashi for the taste testing and supplementation presentation.

A special thank you to...

• Lindy Olsen www.lindyolsen.com who showed us why she is a great role model for this great sport with her down to earth qualities, her professionalism and expert experience. Lindy is a 3x world figure champion. Editor of Oxygen Magazine Australia. Lindy is in great shape herself and shared her goal that she is preparing for future competitions in the near future.

• Neville Smith (Victoria Head Judge) and Mandi Ritchie (ANB Judge) who both attended and were appreciated by all of us as they shared their expertise knowledge and experience. Especially when we went through the judging criteria and posing demonstration (thanks Karen Flaherty and Aaron Braithwaite for participating in this demonstration.) Neville expertly showed us that posing is not just posing but the art of posing. He showed us all how to work on your imbalances and symmetry so that your physique would look the best on stage. He showed us many variations on how to pose to have your own physique showed to its best ability. I have known Neville and Mandi for now over 20 years. Their devotion and passion towards the sport was clearly noticed by all that attended and greatly appreciated with all the tips they were willing to share to each of those wanted to compete!

• Greg Dolman – Another amazing person part of the workshop team was Greg Dolman. He is Lindy Olsen’s Trainer, Mentor and Coach and is a qualified personal trainer and Body Talk Coach. Greg tips on goal setting and getting inside each of our heads was not missed and a few of us were fortunate enough to have some one on one Body Talk time with Greg and experience why Lindy has him by her side. Greg also alongside Neville was amazing has they showed us how to present your best physique with the right posing for your body type. He specializes in training techniques for balance and symmetry. Greg will be attending the next workshop and will be taking group 1 who have attended previous workshops to go over one on one tips for training. Greg will also be available for one on one Body Talk consultations on Friday 25th at HMB Health – Nunawading. For those interested please contact me for a place.

• Tony Haranis – Nept Training www.nept.com.au . Tony not only is one of the best natural master competitors I have known but one of the nicest people also! Tony was willing to share tips and tricks throughout the afternoon. Tony will be co hosting with Lindy Olsen at the upcoming Melbourne Titles.
